Diagnosis
Male is similar to T. equivocata by (a) all wings with 2-4 cross-veins in bridge spaces and 2-4 Cux, only rarely 1; (b) Fw arculus distal to Ax2; (c) Hw triangle of 2 cells, only rarely 1; (d) 12½-18½ Ax in Fw. However, differs by (1) ranging from S Kenya to Zambia and N Malawi; (2) larger size, Hw 26-32 mm; (3) Fw and Hw without subcostal streaks. [Adapted from Dijkstra & Clausnitzer 2014]
Habitat description
Standing and mostly temporary waters shaded by (gallery) forest. Especially pools in stream beds, usually with coarse detritus and often a soft (like muddy) bottom. From 0 to 1500 m above sea level, but mostly between 1000 and 1500, although possibly even higher up.
