Habitat description

Mostly streams, but sometimes headwaters and possibly rivers, in shaded or open areas in (gallery) forest. Often calmer sections (like pools) with emergent vegetation, coarse detritus, rocks and/or a soft (like muddy) bottom. Inferred to occur from 0 to 1000 m above sea level, but mostly below 700, although possibly up to 1700.
