Diagnosis
Male differs from other Ischnura species by Fw Pt having an all dark centre with pale rim, rather than being sharply two-toned. Ranging only from Djibouti to Egypt within Africa, differs from I. abyssinica and I. senegalensis by (1) dorsal black on S2 of rather even width throughout, rather than being narrower at apex; (2) paraprocts as long as cerci, rather than longer. May be cinfused with I. fountaineae in Egypt. [Adapted from Dijkstra & Clausnitzer 2014]
Habitat description
Standing waters in open landscapes. Often with emergent and aquatic vegetation. Tolerant of brackish water. Inferred to occur from 0 to 900 m above sea level.
